Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Marine Conservation Program Manager to lead our expanding marine initiatives along Algeria’s Mediterranean coast. This senior position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive marine conservation programs that address critical environmental challenges while supporting sustainable coastal communities. The successful candidate will work closely with government agencies, local communities, research institutions, and international partners to design and execute conservation strategies that protect marine biodiversity and promote sustainable resource use.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic marine conservation programs aligned with organizational goals and local environmental needs
• Manage all aspects of program budgeting, reporting, and donor relations for marine conservation initiatives
• Lead scientific research and monitoring programs to assess marine ecosystem health and conservation outcomes
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, local communities, and conservation partners
• Design and oversee marine protected area management plans and conservation strategies
• Coordinate with international marine conservation experts to implement best practices and innovative approaches
• Develop community engagement programs that promote sustainable fishing practices and marine conservation awareness
• Manage program staff, consultants, and volunteers to achieve conservation objectives effectively
• Monitor and evaluate program performance against established conservation targets and indicators
• Represent the organization at national and international conferences, workshops, and policy forums

• Expert knowledge of marine ecology, conservation biology, and Mediterranean marine ecosystems

Education

Master’s degree or PhD in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Marine Affairs, or related field. Additional certifications in project management, marine conservation, or environmental law are highly desirable. Continuous professional development in emerging marine conservation techniques and technologies is expected.

Experience

Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in marine conservation program management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated experience working in Mediterranean marine environments preferred. Proven track record in developing and implementing successful conservation programs, managing multidisciplinary teams, and working effectively with diverse stakeholders including government agencies, local communities, and international partners.
