Job Overview

This position requires a proactive professional to design and implement climate adaptation strategies for Skikda’s coastal and urban areas. The role involves collaborating with municipal authorities, environmental agencies, and local stakeholders to develop resilient infrastructure plans aligned with global sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct climate risk assessments for coastal erosion, flooding, and urban heat island effects
  • Develop climate adaptation plans for municipal infrastructure and public spaces
  • Coordinate with local governments to integrate resilience measures into urban development projects
  • Lead community workshops to educate residents on climate preparedness strategies
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for government stakeholders and international partners

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in GIS mapping and climate modeling software (e.g., ArcGIS, Climate Studio)
  • Experience with international climate resilience frameworks (UNDRR, IPCC guidelines)
  • Strong project management skills for multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Fluency in French and Arabic preferred
  • Excellent data analysis and visualization capabilities

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Geography, or related discipline. Master’s Degree in Climate Change or Sustainability Management is an asset.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in climate resilience planning, with a focus on coastal or urban adaptation projects. Prior experience in North Africa or the Mediterranean region is highly advantageous.

Salary

350,000 – 500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
