Job Overview
The Senior Mining Geologist will play a pivotal role in our exploration and resource definition programs in the Illizi region. This position is critical for the long-term success of our mining assets, as you will be responsible for interpreting complex geological data, managing drilling programs, and ensuring the accuracy of our resource models. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee large-scale geological mapping and exploration programs in remote desert environments.
- Develop and implement sophisticated 3D geological models to guide drilling and extraction strategies.
- Supervise diamond and RC drilling operations, ensuring high-quality core logging and sampling protocols.
- Manage geological databases and ensure data integrity for resource estimation processes.
- Collaborate with mine planning and engineering teams to optimize ore recovery and minimize waste.
- Mentor and train junior geological staff to build a robust technical pipeline within the company.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in geological modeling software such as Leapfrog, Micromine, or Surpac.
- Expertise in structural geology, mineralogy, and geochemical analysis.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary field teams.
- Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex geophysical datasets.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and French, with a working knowledge of Arabic.
- Resilience and adaptability to working in remote, high-temperature desert locations.
Education
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree or a PhD in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field. A specialized certification in Mineral Exploration or Resource Estimation is highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
A minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional experience in the mining industry is required.
