Job Summary
The Payroll Officer will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day payroll function, ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance with policies, tax calculations, payroll reporting, and reconciliation activities. The role will also support month-end and year-end payroll requirements while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HR and payroll regulations.
The successful candidate will work closely with Human Resources and Finance teams to maintain accurate payroll records and resolve payroll-related concerns in a timely manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities (JD)
The Payroll Officer will be responsible for:
Payroll Processing & Administration
- Managing and processing payroll transactions efficiently and within strict deadlines.
- Ensuring all payroll changes, including fixed and variable salary data, are properly documented and approved according to HR policies.
- Collecting, calculating, and entering payroll-related information accurately into payroll systems.
- Processing salary adjustments, overtime, deductions, bonuses, disability claims, leave records, and taxable/non-taxable wages.
- Maintaining payroll administration processes while ensuring operational efficiency.
Payroll Reconciliation & Reporting
- Performing payroll reconciliation in line with month-end and year-end financial reporting requirements.
- Preparing payroll summaries including earnings, deductions, taxes, leave balances, and compensation adjustments.
- Developing ad hoc payroll, operational, and financial reports as required.
- Supporting payroll audits and ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting standards.
Compliance & Tax Management
- Calculating payroll liabilities including employee taxes, social security contributions, employer obligations, unemployment contributions, and workers’ compensation where applicable.
- Ensuring payroll activities remain compliant with labor legislation, company regulations, and tax requirements.
- Maintaining accurate payroll records in accordance with data protection and confidentiality standards.
Payroll Support & Problem Resolution
- Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies, payment concerns, and employee payroll inquiries.
- Providing payroll-related support and guidance to HR teams and employees.
- Ensuring payroll policies and procedures are followed consistently.

Education Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field (Preferred).
- Payroll, SAP, ERP, accounting, or HR certifications will be an added advantage.
- Specialized training in payroll compliance, taxation, or labor administration is beneficial.
Experience Requirements
Candidates should have:
- Minimum 5 years of total working experience, including at least 3 years of relevant payroll administration or payroll processing experience.
- GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) experience of at least 2 years is considered an advantage.
- Experience handling payroll reconciliation, payroll reporting, and payroll compliance activities.
- Prior exposure to large workforce payroll systems and HRIS/ERP environments preferred.
