Job Overview

This role focuses on developing and implementing safety strategies for open-pit mining operations in Tlemcen. The position requires collaboration with international teams to maintain compliance with global safety standards while addressing regional challenges. Candidates will contribute to Rio Tinto’s vision of zero incidents through proactive risk management and employee training programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections to identify safety hazards and recommend corrective actions
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for mining personnel
• Monitor compliance with national and international safety regulations
• Investigate incidents and implement preventive measures
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design safer mining processes
• Prepare safety performance reports for senior management

Required Skills

• Proven experience in mining safety management
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and ISO 45001 standards
• Proficiency in risk assessment tools (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA)
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Fluency in French and Arabic preferred
• Ability to work in remote mining environments

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field
• Professional certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, CMIOSH) is an asset

Experience

• 3-5 years in mining safety roles
• Experience with heavy machinery operations
• Project management in high-risk environments

Salary

400,000 – 500,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
