Job Overview

The Mining Safety Compliance Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring SMG’s mining operations adhere to national and international safety regulations. This position is ideal for professionals passionate about creating zero-hazard environments in high-risk industrial settings. The role involves conducting safety audits, training personnel, and collaborating with regulatory bodies to maintain SMG’s status as a benchmark for mining safety in North Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections of mining sites, equipment, and workflows.
• Develop and implement safety protocols aligned with Algerian and ISO 45001 standards.
• Investigate incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Train employees on safety procedures, emergency response, and equipment handling.
• Collaborate with external regulators to ensure compliance with mining safety legislation.
• Monitor and maintain safety performance metrics, submitting monthly reports to senior management.

Required Skills

• Proven experience in mining safety compliance or occupational health and safety (OHS).
• Strong knowledge of Algerian mining regulations and international safety frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for risk assessment and mitigation.
• Leadership abilities to conduct safety drills and manage cross-departmental teams.
• Proficiency in safety management software (e.g., SafetyCulture) and data visualization tools.
• Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and French is preferred.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field. A Master’s Degree in Safety Management or a NEBOSH/CSM certification is a strong advantage.

Experience

3-5 years of progressive experience in mining safety roles, with a focus on compliance and risk management. Experience in phosphate or hard-rock mining environments is highly desirable.

Salary

400,000 – 550,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
