Job Overview

The Financial Crime Prevention Specialist will play a pivotal role in safeguarding Barclays’ operations in Algeria against money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other illicit activities. Working closely with the Compliance, Legal, and Operations teams, you will design, implement, and monitor anti‑financial crime controls, ensuring alignment with local regulations and international best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive anti‑money laundering (AML) and counter‑terrorist financing (CTF) policies tailored to Algerian regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct thorough transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, and case investigations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to embed financial crime controls into product development and business processes.
  • Provide training and awareness sessions for staff on AML/CTF obligations and emerging risk trends.
  • Stay updated on local and international regulatory changes, ensuring timely implementation of new compliance measures.
  • Prepare detailed reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, highlighting key risk indicators and remediation actions.
  • Utilize advanced analytics and forensic tools to detect complex fraud schemes and illicit networks.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Algerian AML/CTF laws, FATF recommendations, and global compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in transaction monitoring systems and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent investigative and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting findings to senior leadership and regulators.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
  • Fluency in Arabic, French, and English.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Law, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist) or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in financial crime prevention, AML compliance, fraud investigation, or related risk management roles within a banking or financial services environment. Experience in the Algerian market or North African region is preferred.
