Job Overview
The Smart Agriculture IoT Systems Engineer will design, develop, and deploy end‑to‑end IoT solutions that monitor soil health, micro‑climate conditions, irrigation efficiency, and pest dynamics on farms throughout the Tlemcen region and beyond. Working closely with agronomists, data scientists, and field technicians, the engineer will translate agricultural requirements into robust hardware and software architectures, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security. Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype IoT sensor networks for soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and nutrient monitoring.
- Develop firmware and embedded software for low‑power field devices, ensuring seamless connectivity via LoRaWAN, NB‑IoT, or cellular networks.
- Integrate sensor data into Syngenta’s cloud platform, creating real‑time dashboards and analytics pipelines.
- Collaborate with agronomists to define data models, thresholds, and alert mechanisms that align with best agricultural practices.
- Conduct field trials in collaboration with local farms, gather performance metrics, and iterate on system design.
- Ensure compliance with Algerian data protection regulations and cybersecurity standards.
- Provide technical training and support to field technicians and farmer partners.
- Document system architecture, test procedures, and maintenance guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in embedded C/C++ and Python for firmware development.
- Experience with wireless communication protocols (LoRa, NB‑IoT, LTE‑M).
- Strong understanding of sensor technologies for agriculture (soil, weather, pest detection).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and RESTful API integration.
- Ability to work with GIS data and map visualizations.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on reliability in harsh field conditions.
- Excellent communication skills in French and Arabic; English is a plus.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree or relevant certifications in IoT, Embedded Systems, or Agricultural Engineering will be considered an advantage.

Salary
