We are seeking a dedicated Marine Conservation Program Officer to join our team in Jijel, Algeria. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement marine conservation projects in alignment with WWF’s strategic goals
• Conduct field research and monitoring of marine ecosystems, including coral reefs, seagrass beds, and fish populations
• Collaborate with local fishing communities to promote sustainable fishing practices and alternative livelihoods
• Engage with government authorities to advocate for the establishment and effective management of marine protected areas
• Organize and lead community awareness campaigns and educational programs on marine conservation
• Prepare technical reports, project proposals, and funding applications
• Coordinate with WWF’s regional and global marine teams to share knowledge and best practices
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful implementation

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of marine ecology and conservation principles
• Experience with field research methods, including underwater surveys and data collection
• Excellent project management and organizational abilities
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Proficiency in data analysis and report writing
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Fluency in Arabic and French; English language skills are an advantage
• SCUBA diving certification and experience with marine fieldwork

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Oceanography, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Marine Conservation or a relevant discipline is preferred. Additional certifications in project management or environmental auditing are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in marine conservation, fisheries management, or related fields. Experience working with NGOs, government agencies, or community-based organizations is highly desirable. Field experience in the Mediterranean region is a plus.
