Arup seeks an Urban Resilience Strategist to lead initiatives in Béchar, Algeria. Key Responsibilities
- Develop climate resilience strategies for urban infrastructure in arid regions
- Conduct vulnerability assessments for water, energy, and transportation systems
- Design adaptive urban planning frameworks for extreme weather events
- Collaborate with local authorities on zoning regulations and building codes
- Lead community workshops to integrate public input into planning processes
- Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies for municipal projects
Required Skills
- Expertise in urban resilience modeling software (e.g., Resilience4Cities)
- Proficiency in GIS mapping for urban analysis
- Strong understanding of Algerian urban development regulations
- Experience with climate change adaptation frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and presentation skills
- Bilingual (Arabic/French and English)
Education
- Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field
- Certification in Climate Resilience Planning (preferred)
Experience
- 3-5 years in urban resilience or sustainable development projects
- Proven experience in North African urban contexts (preferred)
Salary
450,000 – 650,000 SSP monthly, commensurate with experience and project impact.
